Hollywood A-Lister: Part 1

By Larissa Moore

"Excuse me, the owner of the restaurant sent me over. I'm his assistant." This was how I met my bonafide A-list film producer at his restaurant on Sunset Blvd while I was on a date. The "assistant" then proceeded to point over to a table way in the back (too dark for me to actually see his face) where he was having a very important meeting with some German bankers.
"I don't want to bother you now, but can he have your phone number? His name is... " somewhat strangely, he started to literally spell out the whole name. He knew I was going to Google him! My date was a little taken aback for the obvious reasons, but I still gave my number out. It was only our second date, and I wasn't married to him or anything after all.
What happened with my original date is not that important here. We are still good friends, and I've introduced him to a handful of my girlfriends. Some he liked and some he didn't. Our karmic bill is settled! He's also in the "entertainment" industry, and he's totally immuned to this sort of highway robberies.
The A-lister called the next day and asked me out for dinner that night. He knew what he wanted and went right for it. Normally, I would've said yes, but I was actually too busy with work. Yes, I do work sometimes! Anyhow, this in turn worked in my favor since men like the A-lister love challenges. So, I saw him for breakfast a couple of days later. Yes, breakfast!! It's good to mix things up sometimes.
As I washed down my frittata with mimosa, I told him I had a boyfriend (I recently broke up with him, but I still can't remember know why I led with that..) and promised to call him once I became available. He literally seemed "amused" by the turn of the event as if this sort of rejection never happened to him ever. Well, first time for everything, right? How else would I set myself apart from so many young, beautiful girls literally throwing themselves at the guy? After all, we live in Los Angeles/Hollywood and the competition is absolutely fierce. Established men can have whoever they want, but the brains and beauty package is hard to come by. He knew he wanted to wait for me.
When I finally reached out to him several months later, he was beyond ready for picking. He showed all of his cards right away. Private jet to VIP shopping trips to meeting his mother to baby talks..as in having babies in the near future! He opened up to me about his ex-wife who supposedly looked like me, of course, 10 years ago, and how he wanted to be married again. By the way, yes, she's a famous actress.
Anyhow, I felt like Cinderella. I privately watched and followed his films, musing about our Hollywood union, while publicly showing little interest in his Hollywood status. He said he loved that I wasn't one of those "wannabe actress girls." Well, I really wasn't since I didn't even like long movies anyhow. I still have the attention span of a gnat. I also knew I'd rather have the power to make actresses cry or laugh than be one.
And the story continued...
